Dikukuhkan Sabtu (23/12) lalu, dosen Hubungan Internasional (HI) Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Prof. Gonda Yumitro, Ph.D, berhasil meraih jabatan fungsional sebagai Guru Besar di bidang Ilmu Politik di usia 38 tahun 7 hari, terhitung mulai tanggal 1 Juli 2023 sebagai mana termaktub dalam SK. Hal ini membuat Gonda yang lahir pada tanggal 24 Juni 1985, menjadi profesor termuda di UMM.
Sebelumnya, Gonda juga meraih gelar Dosen Berprestasi III Tingkat Universitas pada tahun 2020, dan Dosen Berprestasi I Tingkat Universitas pada tahun 2022. Beragam prestasi tersebut ia peroleh dari konsistensinya dalam kepenulisan ilmiah.
Hal itu dibuktikan dari jurnal-jurnalnya yang terbit di berbagai portal jurnal terindeks SINTA maupun Scopus. Dengan fokus penelitian di bidang politik Islam, Gonda telah menghabiskan 11 tahun hidupnya untuk meneliti jaringan terorisme, baik dalam konteks nasional ataupun internasional.
“Sebagai seorang dosen, kita perlu memaksimalkan performa di bidang akademik. Prinsipnya, saya berusaha melakukan yang terbaik dan berusaha menjadi lebih baik. Insha Allah, juga akan diberikan hasil yang terbaik,” paparnya.
Penulis buku “Masalah Politik Dunia Islam”, “Terorisme dalam Kajian Intermestik”, dan “Belajar dari Negeri Gandhi” ini juga berharap prestasinya bukan hanya sebagai kebanggaan pribadinya, tetapi memberikan manfaat untuk penguatan di sektor kelembagaan dan akademik di UMM, terutama di Prodi HI.
Selain itu, ia berharap prestasi ini juga menjadi motivasi bagi generasi muda untuk lebih berprestasi dibandingkan dirinya. Ia berpendapat bahwa setiap anak muda perlu membakar semangat untuk mengejar mimpi di ranah manapun.
